SWEATER CONSTRUCTION
The first step is to knit the back of the sweater. You will cast on stitches for the upper back and knit flat, incorporating short rows to create a trapezoidal shape. Once the back stitches are put on hold, you will pick up stitches for the left and right shoulders, work a few short rows, and then increase stitches for the neckline. The two shoulder sections are then joined flat. The front is also knitted flat.
The final step of the yoke is to join the front and back together. The body is then worked in the round, with a purl stitch at each side to create faux seams. Short rows are added to the front and back to shape the sides, finishing with a garter stitch hem.
The collar is knitted in the round in twisted rib, with a stockinette finish. The sleeves are picked up at the armholes, worked in the round with decreases, and finished with a garter stitch edge.
